Funny thing how the brain works. Through a strange train of thoughts, I was thinking about The Man from Snowy River. Don’t ask, it’s long and strange. Anyway, I suddenly thought that the father in that movie was Michael Douglas. And I thought to myself, “Wow. I wouldn’t have even known who he was when I saw that movie last. That’s quite interesting.” It turns out that I was half right. The Douglas part was right, but it was Kirk Douglas, not Michael. In this case, it was a visual memory that prompted me to think it was Michael. I had this image of him getting mad about the daughter telling him the kid rode the prize horse. And of course, the entire world knows the two look the same from similar periods of thier lives, so it’s a natural mistake. Anyway, strange brain fart.
As a side note, here’s the tagline from that movie:
The story of a boy suddenly alone in the world. The men who challenge him. And the girl who helps him become a man.
Sounds very primative, or even animalistic. Kid challanges adult males for the female, wins, and fucks her. Great movie.
I just found that interesting.
