Topless Women!!!!

Got your attention, didn’t I?

In Florida, a group of 10 women are suing to get the right to go topless anywhere a man can. More specifically, they’re suing to get the laws (two state, one county) that make it illegal for women to bare their breasts in public for any reason other than breast-feeding or stripping overturned as unconstitutional. Personally, I think this is great for two reasons. First, I’ve always felt it was really strange that men could go topless but women couldn’t. Not only strange, but unfair to men. Afterall, women get to look at all the hot, topless college guys, but we don’t get to look at all the hot, topless college women. The second reason is that, like the overthrow of the anti-sodomy laws, I like to see these attempts to divorse laws from “morals”. I’m sure I’ve ranted about law and “morals” before, so I’ll spare you again. Anyway, this is good news, as far as I’m concerned, and I wish them well in their suit.

The weekend

So, we went bridge walking. Apparently, this was the 46th annual Mackinac Bridge Walk. Basically, you show up at ungodly early in the morning (8 for us), get bussed across the bridge, and walk the 5 miles back. (Of course, the bridge is actually 28ft less than 5 miles, but we had to walk about a mile extra on each end, so it all evens out, right?) It was strange to be in the middle of a crowd that was just there to walk across the bridge.

Also, we played golf, on a real golf course. That was really fun, although Janette got upset at one point after a series of bad hits. I’m much more capable of shrugging off that kind of thing, so I had fun the whole time. I’ve decided that I like golf a lot, even though I’m not really that good at it, except for the short irons.

So, that was Labor Day weekend for us.
