Caught

Well, Saddam has been caught. I’m somewhat conflicted about this. I’m glad he was caught, I think he was an evil man, who deserved to be deposed (although probably not by us). On the other hand, I really dislike Bush, and this will give him a huge boost.
I guess my best hope is that this happened to early to carry Bush through next year’s election. Of course, there’s a bigger fish out there, namely Osama. If Osama is caught close to the election, then Bush will win. Hopefully, he’s caught either really soon, or after the election.
Anyway, good news for Iraq, I believe.

Hmmm. I agree on your reasons for being conflicted about the capture. The overriding emotion, however, was feeling sick to my stomach looking at the footage they released to TV. Yes, I realize that many people would jump right in pointing out that Saddam himself displayed little or no respect for human dignity. I don’t care. I still don’t want to see footage of anyone being treated like a farm animal at market being broadcast. Especially since it was obviously pandering to the self-righteous Bush supporters trying to justify the American penchant for policing the morals and lifestyles of the rest of the world.
