Now you see it, now you don’t
Okay, this is a sweet case mod.
Okay, this is a sweet case mod.
Well, it’s looking like the timetable for our closing is being sped up. Now that the realtors are actually trying to set up a time for the actual close, it comes out that they are going to be out of the house by the evening of the 5th. We, of course, want to get in as soon as possible. So, it’s looking like we may close on the morning of the 6th, a week early. Woot!
Now, I seem to recall Windows installations as a breeze compared to that of Linux or *BSD (yes, WinXP is more so than W2k) but I guess things change. Compared to SuSE, Fedora Core and especially Mandrake, Windows (both W2k and WinXP) is a walk on broken glass to install.

I finally got pictures of the house:

And from the other side, with a view of the garage:

Well, we got the mortgage. Not problem, just like Dan at the bank said. Sweet! The Title is in the hands of Janette’s Dad, who’s going over it, but we don’t anticipate problems with that. After that, we’re done. We just have to sit back and wait until closing.
I always had this sneeking suspicion that something would go wrong, but it looks like the house is ours.
Apparently, Salon had a contest to come up with a slogan for Silicon Valley. Some of the results are pretty funny, but my favorites are the winner:
“Where quality is job 1.1″
and these two runners up:
“We don’t just make your computer, we make your computer obsolete!”
“It Compiles. Ship It”
Good stuff.
