So, I ran across this today, and a couple of things jumped out at me.

First, you give people a camera, and ask them to take pictures, and they take pictures of a few different things: girls/women posing in model poses, groups obviously posing (and usually with arms around each other), and paneramics. Very little else. Some candids, some obvious accidental ones, like pictures of feet, and a buch with fingers obscuring them, but generally just those three things.

Second, the slums of Rio are really slums. The surroundings are beautiful, but the houses the people live in are absolutely squalid; worse than anything I’ve seen here in the US.

And, in spite of that, the people look happy.
