Mmmm… Beer….

Yesterday, we were shopping for dishes, and we stopped at the World Market. I discovered, much to my surprise, that they have an excellent selection of micorbrews and beers from around the world. I bought 6 different beers: 4 stouts, 1 porter, 1 ale. So far, the stout I drank yesterday was quite good. I’m looking forward to spending some cash there on more varieties of beer.

Bitkeeper is out

Apparently, for various reasons, BitKeeper is out as the Linux kernel SCM of choice. Linus will be switching to something else, over the course of the next week.

Now, I was never down on Linus for using BitKeeper in the first place. The best tool for the job, and all that. I’ve never used it myself, because I don’t want to limit my potential development options, but Linus is free to use what he wants.

However, I see this as a good development in general. Because BitKeeper can’t be used anymore, some FOSS alternative will have to step up and fill the void, and this can only be good for me, for other FOSS projects, and for actually finding a good SCM to use on FOSS projects. My current favorite is bazaar-ng, so I’m holding out hope that it can improve fast enough to be considered.

This is going to be a rockey period in LK development. It should be interesting to follow.
