Gnome-blog test post

Once again, I’m test posting from gnome-blog. I know I raved about it a long time ago, but at the time, I had to make changes to it so it could work with our blog setup (non-standard wordpress URLs). Then, once that was supposedly fixed, it would crash-and-burn violently whenever I tried to use it on my amd64 laptop.

Now, it seems to be running. Yay! Let’s hope it does, because I loved it when I was able to use it.

Update: It seems to work, even though it get’s a mal-formed XML error from expat. No way that I can see to set categories, so that’s a big problem. Still, I can use it for quick posts.

Usenet has made me a lazy typist

Hanging out on IRC for Gentoo and Gnome has made me a lazy typist, it seems. I’ve pretty much stopped checking my typing for correctness as I type. I attribute this to two things: Spellcheck in gaim (which is what I use for IRC), and the ability to correct myself after reading my post. Example:

I just posted in a bug:

Could you pose the output of lspci?

When I read the bug email, I had this urge to go and post:

post, even.

which is, of course, what I would have done on IRC, if I’d made the same mistake. What I should have done was to read over my post before I submitted it. It’s what I would have done before I started using a medium where I could easily correct myself after the fact.

Makes me wonder: how long before I can’t type english correctly without spellcheck and correcting myself after-the-fact? C, of course, will never be a problem… The compiler can catch my mistakes. :)

Superman Mania

Of the top 25 Kids and Family DVDs on Amazon right now, 13 are Superman. Now that’s hype around a movie.
