Now a PMP
Posted on July 2nd, 2007 by Daniel
Today, my 770 officially became a Portable Music Player. My definition of a PMP includes:
- portable (duh)
- battery powered (what isn’t these days?)
- music player (you’d think duh…)
Until today, my 770 was portable and battery powered, but not a music player. Today, I found mogg, which enabled it to play Ogg Vorbis (you only thought mp3, aac, and wma were music…).
Now all I have to do is find/write some kind of client for PMP syncing with banshee. Maybe the Lazy Web knows already?
Okay, I know there’s been a stand-alone ogg player for a long time, but I tried it and didn’t like it, and so uninstalled it. mogg is a gstreamer plugin, so every media app on the 770 can now play vorbis. Yay!
You managed to install IT OS 2007 on the 770? I thought it’s for the 800 only. mogg won’t install on this gregale-flavoured 770 here…
Nope, it’s gregale here, not 2007. I didn’t even go looking or it; it showed up in my applications manager, presumably in the garage repo.
