So is Dan, apparently

I guess maybe I’m not that bad a blogger. Or at least I’m no worse than Daniel. He hasn’t written anything in several days. Partly this makes me feel better, because if I’m a slacker, at least I’m not the only one. On the other hand, though, it’s kind of annoying because I check Dan’s blog every day, and recently there’s been nothing new. Admittedly, he mostly writes about computer stuff that I really don’t care about, but still, it’s nice to have SOMETHING to read. I can only check Buffy figure prices on ebay so many times before I get really bored. Maybe I’ll play the Harry Potter game. Or maybe go for a walk. I don’t know.

I’m a bad blogger

I’m not a good blogger. I never have anything to say. I think the reason for this is that most of the time I just sit around at home doing the same kind of work and watching the same kind of tv and nothing ever really happens to me. And then when I DO do something, I think of various interesting things that I could blog about, but I’m actually busy doing something and can’t blog. By the time I’m back at home and can blog again, I’ve completely forgotten any interesting things that I could have talked about. So, I apologize for never having anything to talk about.

Diana’s Harry Potter Musical

So, Diana is writing Harry Potter the musical. She has several songs written already, and they’re quite good, assuming you go in for the whole Broadway kind of music. I was over there earlier today, listening and doing work while she worked on it. Ever since I’ve had one of the songs stuck in my head. (Diana, I need the words to “The Boy Who Lived”. I’m going nuts!) One of the songs has a trumpet part (and an improv solo), and I want her to write the part out so I can play it. Anyway, now that she’s home from school she’ll have lots of time to work on it, so maybe she can get the whole thing written and then get rights to produce it and get famous and stuff. That would be cool. I think I’m going to go insane if I don’t get this song out of my head, though. Or at least learn all the words.

Going to Interlochen

Well, I’m going up to Interlochen tomorrow for Diana’s graduation. I have to get up at 7:00. In all likelyhood, this is the last time I’m going to have to go to Interlochen, at least in the foreseeable future. Anyway, I won’t be back for a while (Saturday night, I think). So don’t expect any blogs until then, since there’s basically no internet access up north. Well, there IS internet access up there, but I won’t be able to use it. I am taking my laptop, though, because I have to do work (yuck.)

Wow

That was amazing! Definitely one of the best Buffys of all time. Much to my surprise, hardly anyone was killed off. Anya died, which everyone has known was going to happen for a long, long time. Also, they killed off Spike, which was kind of expected, too. He got to be the really cool conduit for blowing all of Sunnydale into a big crater. It was pretty cool. And I have a hard time being horribly sad about it when they’re just going to resurrect him on Angel. It does make me wonder if he’ll be a vampire or a human or what, though… Unfortunately, I can’t find out until the fall. There were a bunch of great moments in the episode: Giles playing D&D with Xander, Andrew, and Amanda, the comment at the end about there being a hellmouth in Cleveland (tie in with the Wishverse!), and Willow after completing her spell. She turned every potential in the entire world into a Slayer! (I feel proud of myself for figuring out that they were going to do that as soon as The First made a point of Buffy being “alone”.) Anyway, it was a great episode and a great ending. Bye, Buffy. You sure went out with a bang.

Happy Last Day of Buffy

Hello, everyone. Happy Buffy Series Finale Day. There are less than 7 hours left until the final episode. It’s both very exciting and also sad. I wonder who they’re going to kill off… Going along with the Buffy theme, last night on the Late Late Show Alyson Hannigan (Willow) and David Boreanaz (Angel) were the guests. And apparently David is a hockey fan! I thought that was cool. He made fun of Craig for being a basketball guy. Anyway, after the episode tonight I will let everyone know what happened. I can’t wait!

PS2

So, after a lot of random talking about “we should buy an x-box”, “we should buy a playstation”, and stuff like that, we finally went out and bought one. A playstation, that is, not an x-box. After all, they don’t make Final Fantasy Origins for the x-box. Unfortunately, they don’t make Buffy for the playstation. But the second Buffy game (which is supposed to be better anyway) will be available for the playstation, so I don’t mind. Daniel played Final Fantasy all day yesterday, and part of today. I got kind of bored of watching him play it, so eventually we went to the video store and rented a couple games. I got the Harry Potter game, which is a lot of fun. You walk around and figure things out, mostly, with a little bit of casting spells to attack enemies. So it doesn’t take a whole lot of manual dexterity, which is good for me. Especially because I’m not used to the analog joysticks. Dan rented this ninja game and he’s playing it right now. It doesn’t really look all that interesting to me, and seems kind of complicated. I think I’ll stick with the Harry Potter. I have to try and find other games that I would like now. Daniel says that Tomb Raider is the same type of game as the Harry Potter game, and we have a version for the computer, so I think maybe I’ll try that out and see how I like it. There’s also a bunch of RPGs that I could try (again, the types of games that don’t require a lot of skill), and I bet I could find some of those that I like. I’m also going to get the Monkey Island game at some point, because Matthew says it’s like the original one we had on the computer, and that game was a lot of fun. (No dueling this time, though. ) Anyway, so far the playstation is lots of fun. I think we need to get some kind of game that has a two-player mode so we don’t have to always take turns. Oh! One thing I forgot… the controller we have has this vibrating feature, so when your guy gets hit or something it shakes the controller. It’s really weird, but kind of fun.

Books: Fluff vs. Literature

Okay, so I was reading this fantasy book, the second in a trilogy. While it’s a really good book, I’ve been really really slow getting through it. Basically, I’ve only read it while waiting at restaurants, and haven’t felt any urge to just sit and read for any period of time. Then, a couple days ago I started reading Artemis Fowl, which is a “young adult” kind of book, and I could hardly put it down. The main difference between the two books is that the first one is serious. It has a lot of imagery and things like that (not so much that it’s boring, but enough that it seems like “literature” instead of just a book.) Now, I like literature. I’ve read lots of old or famous books and enjoyed them. In general, though, I only tend to get really into books that are less literary. I think it’s because a lot of the more literary books focus more on the words and the imagry and the subtextual messages and less on the story, and what really captures my attention is a good story. Sometimes it’s the plot that’s really intriguing, and sometimes it’s the characters. Ideally, all books would be fun, have good stories, and use fancy words and have literary value. Since that’s never going to happen, I think I’m just going to continue to read a lot of fluff (like Buffy books) with the occasional piece of literature thrown in.

Beer Bad?

Well, I learned something interesting today. Apparently Guinness (the beer) has some nutritional value. Not a whole lot, though. And It’s missing some key ingredients, most noticeably calcium and vitamin C. But, apparently you can get your entire daily allowance of nutrients by drinking 1 glass of orange juice, 2 glasses of milk, and 47 pints of Guinness. Personally, I find this very funny.

Final Fantasy

I just learned from Tech TV’s X-Play that there’s a game for the playstation (the old playstation) called Final Fantasy Origins that includes Final Fantasy and Final Fantasy 2. I think this is really cool. I loved Final Fantasy for the nintendo. The characters were so cute, and the game was really cool, even if they didn’t have enough room to make a spell name more than 5 letters (hence, Meteo!) I’ve been considering for a while buying an old copy to play on my nintendo (since Matthew has our old game), but the battery might not work, and the game might not work all that well, plus they sell for around $25 still. But, if we got a playstation (or a PS2), then we could get this game and have Final Fantasy on a CD, where it wouldn’t degrade or anything. Plus, the new Buffy game coming out will be available for the PS2…. hmmm. It’s really starting to sound good. Although it would be fun to buy an X-box just because Microsoft loses money on every one sold.
