Camera at Last

Well, I finally have my camera, and it’s very cute and very cool. It took a bit of doing to get it, though. Apparently Best Buy and Comp USA don’t carry this camera anymore. It’s been replaced by the newer and more expensive s230 (mine is an s200.) Circuit City still had this kind, though, and it was cheaper than I expected, too. So it wasn’t too bad. I’m going to have to get a bigger memory card at some point. This one can hold about 14 or 15 pictures at the highest resolution. I also need a case for it so that I can carry it around without scratching the LCD screen. Right now I’m using the bubble wrap it came in to protect it. Oh, and speaking of bubble wrap, my set of Buffy toys arrived today, wrapped in tons of bubble wrap. The Giles and Oz figures were better than I expected and came with neat accessories, and I now have the extra Buffy necessary to make my custom Buffy. Here’s a picture of my Buffy toys, taken with the new camera. Xander is missing because I’m not done repainting him. buffytoys.jpg

The Camera Saga Continues

Well, it turns out the second place wasn’t a scam. They were just out of cameras. So, I guess that means I’m going to have to go out to the store and just buy the camera at a more expensive price. Grrr… I was hoping I wouldn’t have to do that.

No Camera Yet

Okay, so I’ve been wanting the little Canon digital camera for months. I didn’t buy it earlier because it was expensive, so I decided I could wait and get it as an anniversery present. Well, my anniversery was yesterday, and I still have no camera. I found this place online a while ago that claimed to have them on sale for only $185, but it turned out that that was a scam, so I couldn’t get a camera from them. Now, I’ve ordered a camera from another place that says they have it for $215, but they were supposed to tell me when the camera was shipped, but so far they haven’t told me anything. If this place turns out to be a scam too (which would be really, really annoying because we’d have to call American Express and tell them not to pay the money) then I’m just going to give up and go buy my camera from the store even though it costs more.

Happy Anniversary

Happy Anniversary, Daniel. I love you. (I think the “kiss” smiley looks silly and girly, so you get the big smile instead.)

No More Hockey

Well, hockey season is officially over, and the New Jersey Devils are Stanley Cup Champions this year. I thought they were going to beat Anaheim. My initial prediction was New Jersey in 6, but after the Ducks won both games 3 and 4 I had to adjust it to New Jersey in 7, which is what happened. The series was interesting, because the home team won every single game. That doesn’t usually happen. Another interesting thing is that Giguere was the Con Smythe (MVP) winner, even though his team lost. I wasn’t really surprised by this, though. It’s the MVP of the whole playoffs, after all, and Anaheim would probably have lost way earlier if it weren’t for him. So now I have more than 3 months before any sort of hockey. Fortunately football starts earlier than that. Summer is so boring. Nothing but baseball.

Success

Yay! After one failed attempt (not boiling long enough), I managed to pop the heads off of my Faith action figures so that I can now put the good head on the good body. But I have to wait for them to cool down so I don’t mess up the head peg. It’s possible I’ll have to scrape down the pegs a bit to get the heads on, but that’s okay. I’ll test it on the Master (who’s still in pieces — I ought to do something about that.) Swapping the Faith heads is step 1 in my customizing process. Step 2 will involve swapping the legs of a couple Buffys so Buffybot and “Chosen” Buffy can have the legs I want. “Chosen” Buffy will need a head swap, too. Then I’ll have to get them all nice and painted. That part’s pretty easy, though, and Diana can help me if I have any trouble. The final step will be to see what pieces we have left over, and make some sort of interesting Faith figure out of them. I’m not sure we’ll be able to make her correspond to any particular episode, but we can probably make her look good at any rate. Oh, and somewhere in there I need to paint Xander too. That’s it for my current customizing plans. And unlike a lot of other people, when I’m done I’m not going to sell my figures on ebay. The whole point, after all, is for me to have cool and unique figures. Although people seem to buy them for ridiculous amounts of money, so it is tempting. People will buy anything. There’s this really ugly custom on ebay right now going for $36 already. Between me and Diana we could make much nicer ones.

Oops

Oops. I didn’t blog yesterday. I had been planning on it, but apparently I forgot. I think I was distracted by the Harry Potter books (I’m now on book 3.) I guess I really should have waited longer to read them, since at this rate I’ll finish them well before the 21st (or 20th, really, since I’m going to go get my book at midnight.) Oh well. At least on the 10th the Buffy season 4 DVDs come out, so that will be something to pass the time while I wait for book 5. Also, I could finish the Harry Potter video game. I’m having trouble with my quidditch playing. I can’t seem to beat Ravenclaw, and if I don’t I probably won’t win the house cup. I think it’d be cool if in the next Harry Potter game you could play as different characters from the different houses. Doesn’t seem too likely, though. But it would be fun to root/play for someone other than Gryffindor. Slytherin has better colors, for instance, and it would be fun to be “evil”. I don’t think I’d want to play as a Hufflepuff, though.

Ebay is cool

Ebay is really cool, assuming you use it correctly. Today, for instance, I got a 3-pack of Buffy figures for less than $30. In the online stores it sells for $50 at the cheapest, and a lot of the ebay auctions for the same thing start at more than $30. Some ebay auctions are a total rip-off though. You can find the same thing in an online store (or a regular store) for cheaper. So you have to know what you’re doing. Most of the time the “buy it now” is ridiculously high, for instance. Occasionally you find a reasonable “buy it now”, but not often. They usually get bought right away, while the overpriced ones stick around for a long time. Anyway, I’m happy with my ebay purchase today because I get a buffy, oz, and giles all for the price that just a buffy usually goes for (on ebay or in the stores.)

Bugs are evil

So, we had this big anthill in our backyard, and we would get the occasional ant in the house because of it. So the other day we bought some bug spray and Dan sprayed the anthill. Apparently the ants really didn’t like that, because today they came into our house. It was really disgusting. They were gathering around this little spot around the sink where someone must have spilled a drop of something and not realized. I only had the outdoor bug spray, so I had to kill as many as possible by just squishing them with a paper towel. They were surprisingly hard to kill for being so tiny. Anyway, then I went to the store and bought some bug spray that can be used indoors and sprayed all around the sink and down on the floor around the corner where they were coming in. I haven’t seen a live ant since, so it seems to have worked. Also, Dan sprayed the anthill again after he came home. Unfortunately the kitchen has smelled like bug spray all day. And tomorrow I’m going to have to scrub the whole thing thoroughly to get rid of all bug spray and/or ant contamination. And I’m going to rewash all the dishes that were drying in the dish drainer in case ants crawled on them. I hate bugs. They’re so disgusting.

Time to re-read

So, the fifth Harry Potter book comes out in less than 3 weeks. My sister and I are planning to go to Borders at midnight to pick up our books so we can stay up all night reading them. However, since I have not memorized all four previous books (unlike Diana), I have to read them all again so I’ll remember everything that’s happened so far and be properly desperate to find out what happens next. I really want to know who’s going to die…
