Snow

Well, I guess this counts as the first official snow of the year. Last night after the hockey game I had to brush snow off my car, and this morning there is still snow on the ground. I don’t think it will last long, since it’s above freezing. It’s cool to have snow, though. If it’s going to be cold I want it to be cold enough to snow, because nothing is more miserable than cold and rainy. So, anyway, enjoy the snow.

Roses for Michigan

Well, just in case anyone didn’t know, yesterday we beat Ohio State 35-21. Yay! So now we are the undisputed Big Ten Champions and we get to go to the Rose Bowl. Okay, so there’s still a chance that we could somehow move way up in the BCS rankings, but it’s unlikely. I think it’s going to be Oklahoma and USC for the national championship. Personally, I don’t care. The BCS is stupid anyway. It’s pretty much exactly as dumb as the voting was, except that there can’t be a tie. Woo. But anyway, when we looked really awful we managed to turn our season around and become a really good team and best in the Big Ten. Go Blue! Happy New Year!

Lunar Eclipse

There was a lunar eclipse tonight. Around 6:30 you could start to see the moon move into the earth’s shadow. Then you could see it move more and more into the shadow, until it reached totality a little after 8:00. At that point the moon was all reddish. There seemed to always be this tiny little bit of brightness at the bottom of the moon, even during the totality, but it was still really cool. Right now there is only a little bit of shadow left on the moon. I took a bunch of pictures of the moon during the various stages of the eclipse. I actually had a few more, but they didn’t all turn out very well, so I will only show you the good ones.

Here is the very beginning of the eclipse, where most of the moon is still visible:
