Weird

So, for a snack I had this little packet of “Toast flavored” peanut butter crackers. It was a normal package, with six little sandwiches inside, but on top of one of the sandwiches was an extra cracker. No extra peanut butter or anything, just one extra cracker. I just thought it was kind of odd. I guess the machine that makes them accidentally put 2 crackers down one time instead of just 1 and it got wrapped up that way or something.

Good day for hockey

We’ve had a couple nice hockey games today. First, the Wings got to beat up on the Avs 2-0 to sweep the home and home series. We now have 103 points and a good chance to win the President’s Trophy (winningest team during the regular season, for those that don’t know.) That would also guarantee that we would have home ice advantage for the entirety of the playoffs. Anyway, after the Wings game (actually starting part-way through it) came the Michigan game. The last few seconds are ticking away right now. And we win 4-1. A very decisive victory. We played really, really well. I hope we play well again tomorrow so we can get to the final four. The only problem with the games at all today was that our stupid cable kept getting all messed up. This has been a problem for a long time. Today we tried swapping out cables and things, and it usually worked for a while, but the problems would always come back. It might just be the underground cable coming up to the apartment, and there’s nothing we can do about that one. The weird thing is that the TV picture gets messed up, but the internet doesn’t seem to have any problems. Maybe the TV signal is just more sensitive or something.

Snow :(

Okay… so the groundhog thing says that if the groundhog sees his shadow we’re supposed to have 6 more weeks of winter. Well, it’s been more than 6 weeks and it’s still snowing. The way I see it, there are 3 options:

1) move groundhog day to later in February

2) change it from 6 weeks to 9 weeks — maybe even 10 or 11

3) stop snowing

I would prefer option 3, since it would be really nice to be able to do things like go outside and go for a walk and stuff like that. I’m very tired of snow. Unfortunately, we will probably continue to get snow off and on for the rest of the month, and there will probably be a few flurries in April, too. Maybe if the stores wouldn’t put out little pastel Easter dresses and bunnies and chickens and flowers it wouldn’t seem like winter is supposed to be over now. I think I should start a new trend — Easter snowmen. There could be Easter snowbunnies with baskets of snow eggs. And then no one would be surprised when all the girls freeze on Easter in their little pastel dresses.

Baby Shower

So, yesterday I had my (first) baby shower. Overall it was really nice. The only weird thing was making everyone get their picture taken in front of the giant inflatable bear. My mom and Jenny liked it, but I just thought it was kind of silly. We (well, Morgan, really) got tons of cool stuff, like our jogging stroller/car seat combo. We just assembled the stroller. It didn’t really take a lot of assembly, actually. Basically just putting on the wheels and snapping the plastic trays into place. We got some pink stuff (it’s probably impossible to have a girl and not get pink stuff), but not all pink stuff, so it was okay. My favorite baby clothes that we got are the tiny Michigan cheerleader outfit and the Very Hungry Caterpillar outfit. Now all of these baby things are piled in the computer room, taking up all of the extra space. We emptied the dresser, though, so I will take all the clothes and the toys and put them in the drawers, which should get rid of some of the giant bags of stuff. We’re going to need lots of people we know to have babies so we can use all of these baby gift bags. I still haven’t gotten rid of all of our wedding gift bags.

New Linux Blog Program

So, now that I have Linux I have this cool little blog program. Instead of having to go to my web brower and go to the blog site to add an entry, all I have to do is click the “blog” button now on my toolbar thing and a box pops up that I can type in. I can even add links. I can’t put in pictures, though, so if I want to do that I’ll have to do it the old way. But I don’t really insert pictures in my blog very often, so it’s not really a problem.

Finally

Well, it looks like it’s finally done. My new laptop is up and running and I can retire the old messed up one. I have linux and windows installed and I won’t have to use windows for anything except work. All in all, I really like the new laptop. It’s much faster than the old one, it has a much better screen, and it has a DVD/CD-RW drive, so I can watch DVDs or burn CDs with it. The old laptop didn’t have a CD drive at all, so this is a big improvement. Also, this has a 30 gig harddrive, so I should have plenty of space for everything. So I’m very pleased with this new laptop (which is also small and cute, like the last one), and the only problem I have is that I’m not used to the keyboard yet. It’s better to type on than a regular keyboard, though. I’ve gotten so used to the small laptop keyboards that I have a hard time typing on a normal-sized one.

Cleaning House

So, Lord of the Rings swept the Oscars, getting 11 awards, including Best Director and Best Picture. It also won Best Original Score, which made me happy because I love the music. This ties it for the most Oscars ever with Ben-Hur and Titanic (well, 2 out of 3 isn’t bad.) It was crazy. After about 5 wins I kept thinking, “Well, it can’t possibly win everything it was nominated for. Something else has to win this next one.” But it just kept on winning. It was so strange. But it was cool. And then some other people won some other stuff, but who really cares about that?
