New printer

We bought a new printer today. It’s a Canon i860, which is a mid-level printer — not a really cheap one, but not one of those giant, expensive ones. It’s a photo printer, plus it has an extra black ink cartridge for printing text (apparently text prints faster and neater with a different kind of ink.) It’s a stunning improvement over our old printer. I printed out a page with some text and some color (like a webpage) as a test, and it spit it out in a couple of seconds. The old printer would have taken at least a minute and it wouldn’t have looked as good. I also printed out a text photo on photo paper. The new printer has a special paper feed for 4×6 photo paper, which is nice. Also, it has a usb port on the front that you can plug a camera into (if it’s compatible.) Since my camera is a Canon, it works with this feature, and it’s really cool. You just go to the picture that you want to print and push a button a couple times and it will print that picture directly on the printer. I printed out a picture and it looks great, just like a photo you would get from a film camera. So, I am extremely pleased with the new printer, and we will now be able to print out plenty of pictures of Morgan.

Free Ice Cream

Today was free ice cream day at Ben and Jerry’s. I think it’s the only time that they’ve had a longer line than Stucchi’s. The line wasn’t actually that bad. We only had to wait about 15 minutes or so. Since nobody had to pay it meant that people went through pretty quickly. Also, it was cold today (it snowed, even), so that probably kept the number of people wanting free ice cream to a minimum. This free ice cream thing was associated with Rock the Vote, so there were weird people going along the line getting people to register to vote. Every time a new person registered they would cheer and stuff. It was amusing. And it’s cool that the free ice cream was being used for something good. (And the ice cream was good too.) If you missed the free ice cream today, tomorrow night (6-10) Baskin Robbins has free scoop night. They’re doing something that gives books to low-income kids. So go get free ice cream tomorrow if you didn’t get any today (or even if you did, I suppose.)

Michigan Stadium has an address

I suppose this might seem obvious to some people. After all, it’s a building, so it has to have an address just like every other building. It’s just not something I ever thought about until yesterday when I drove by and saw that there is now a sign on the fence right at the corner of Stadium and Main with the address. (1201 S. Main, if anyone cares.) I’m assuming that this sign must be relatively new because I drive by the stadium all the time and I’m not completely oblivious. I don’t really see that the sign serves much purpose. There’s probably not a whole lot of mail that goes to the stadium, and I imagine that if you just wrote, “Michigan Stadium, Ann Arbor, Michigan” on an envelope it would probably get there anyway. It’s kind of cool to know the address of the stadium. It’s another trivial fact that I can tell people in case they want to know more than that the official capacity is 107, 501.

Ruined

So, regular lifesavers were the only candy I could get in a big pack and I would eat all the different flavors. Some of them weren’t the best flavors in the world (orange, pineapple), but I would still eat them all. Now, however, they have gone and replaced the lemon and the lime flavors with watermelon and raspberry. Raspberry is a perfectly good flavor, but watermelon is disgusting, and to make it worse, the green ones are the watermelon ones. Meaning they took away the best flavor from my favorite color and replaced it with one I hate. They recommend you bring hard candy to the hospital with you when you have a baby so you can have something to suck on and keep your mouth moist (also, they don’t feed you apparently), but now my only options seem to be regular jolly ranchers (also with yucky watermelon that I will never eat), weird “tropical” flavored varieties of things, like strawberry-kiwi and banana-mango (yuck), and the ruined lifesavers. I am very disappointed. I hope no one buys the new flavor ones and they put the lime back.

Good Karma

So, I now have an mp3 player. It’s just like Dan’s, a 20GB Rio Karma. I wanted to get it now (instead of waiting for it to be like an anniversery present or something) so that I could get all the music on it and learn how to use it before the baby is born. This way I can take it with me to the hospital and have a constant stream of music to relax/distract me when I’m in labor. It arrived yesterday, and I started trying to put music on it from the computer upstairs, which already had the software installed on it. Well, apparently something about that computer didn’t like my mp3 player. (Maybe because Dan had already used his there and it didn’t like having 2 players.) It would randomly crash while uploading music, and then you would have to take the mp3 player out of the cradle and then put it back in (and sometimes even close and reopen the program) before it would start working again. Today I installed the program on my windows partition and tried it there, and it worked fine. Which proves that it was the upstairs computer, not my mp3 player. (Yay!) Now all my music is on the player and I can listen to it and play with it and stuff.

10,000

That’s right. My car has finally passed 10,000 miles. It only took almost 2 and a half years. It conveniently hit exactly 10,000 in the parking lot when I went to the store, so I was able to take the picture.
