Some French guy has written a book with no verbs. This is perhaps this silliest thing I have ever heard of. First of all, with no verbs, there won’t be a single complete sentence in the entire book. Okay, that’s probably not quite true. There are probably some implied verbs. But for the most part it would just be an entire book written in phrases. Secondly, with no verbs, nothing can happen! This book has to be nothing more than a giant, gramatically incomplete description. It sounds like the most boring, and probably incomprehensible thing ever written. If you go and look at the article in the link, there are quotes from the author, but if you take the verbs out, then they would make no sense at all. In my opinion if he’s going to defend his book as a work of art (or even just as something other than total nonsense) he ought to do it using no verbs. How can you really take someone seriously when they effectively say, “Verbs interfere with the rest of the words”? If they really did, you wouldn’t need the “interfere” in that sentence, would you? In fact, taking it out ought to improve the sentence, right? Personaly, I think it would be much more interesting to write a book with no adjectives. That would force you to use a wide variety of interesting nouns and verbs and you could even use proper grammar.
