Stuff
Wow. Time to blog. Morgan is sleeping, so I’m going to write something while I can. It’s been SO long since my last entry. Sorry about that. Anyway, there was a lot of stuff recently that I wanted to blog about, so here it is:
Art Fair: We went on Thursday to Art Fair. We left Morgan with Dan’s parents because it was 90 degrees or so outside, so we didn’t want to take her along. As usual, it was even bigger this year. We skipped a little bit of it (most of the boring South U. part and some of the part around the bell tower that used to be the boring South U. part.) But we saw all the good stuff, like the lightning pictures and the trumpet fountains, and the freaky real-looking people. There was a new little section over by the non-profit booths, and that’s where we got our art this year. This Korean couple makes these cool little sculptures out of braided twine. We got a dragon. So now we have one more thing in our collection of dragons in various media. We also got Morgan a Morgan puzzle from one of the toy booths. The other really cool thing was that Mongolian BBQ had a food booth outside the restaurant. So we got to have that for lunch.
House: The house will soon be ours!!! We got through all of the various things without much trouble. There’s nothing majorly wrong with the house: one leaky tub, the electrical wire coming into the house needs to be upgraded, and it needs a radon mitigation system. Some of that is kind of expensive, but none of it requires walls being ripped out or a lot of time or anything. We arranged with the sellers for them to give us a credit to cover the cost of the necessary work. We had no problems getting financing or anything, and there didn’t seem to be any problems with the title, so we’re all set. Today we arranged for the closing time. It turns out that the people are going to be out of the house by the evening of the 5th. So we’ve moved the closing date up to August 6th. That’s only a week from Friday! I’m very excited. Also, now we’ll have a whole week to move.
Golf: We went up to the condo over the weekend. It was only Saturday and Sunday, so we didn’t have much time, but we did get some valuable golf practice. Apparently, my family got some really good golf instruction (from Phil Mickelson’s golf coach!) and they have been working on perfecting their swings. So my mom explained how a proper swing is supposed to work, and we played some 7-iron golf (basically practicing on the course with just a 7-iron) and practiced Sunday at the driving range. It’s amazing how much the swing helps. I can actually hit irons in the right direction now. It’s kind of a pain to remember all the little things to get the swing right, but if I keep practicing it I will be able to be a pretty good golfer, I think.
