That was close…

So, I woke up this morning, around 5:45 am and pretty much as soon as I started to roll over, my water broke. So, we got up,  brushed teeth, changed clothes, called the doctor and stuff like that, and got ready to take the girls to my parents’ house and head to the hospital. We weren’t being slow or anything, since the first 2 kids came relatively quickly, but it didn’t really seem all that urgent. Daniel dropped me off at the hospital entrance, and I walked to the elevator and headed up to the reception area to check in while he parked the car. I wasn’t feeling too bad, considering I was in labor, but I did decide to sit down by the time Dan got upstairs. They took me into the triage area, where you usually spend a while, getting things monitored and checking the contractions and baby’s heart rate and things like that. However, when the resident checked me, she said I was already between 9 and 10cm, and ready to deliver. So they wheeled me right over to the labor/delivery room, and a bunch of nurses and the in-house doctor all came in, because my doctor wasn’t even there yet, and after a few minutes and about 3 pushes, Anya was born at 7:01 am. So the whole thing took only 1 1/4 hours, and only the last 15-20 minutes were actually at the hospital. I’m really glad we don’t live any farther away, because it would not have been fun to have her born in the car.

  1. Wow. Glad all went smoothly, but I can imagine how completely insane that must have been. It would not have been fun indeed…

  2. Janette, you are amazing. You make it look so easy!! I wish everyone’s birth experiences could be as quick as yours. :) And I still can’t believe that that adorable little fat-cheeked soul fit inside you just a couple hours before… Congratulations!!! :)
